Robby Sanders has been playing music ever since he could hit his parents pots and pans in the kitchen. Growing up he was immersed in music playing percussion and singing with band, choir, and many extracurricular musical activities including competing at the highest levels. Later attending Ball State for music Education he furthered his love and passion for music and his ability to teach others and give back what music has given him. As a member of the World Class competitive WGI drumline Matrix, they toured Europe and placed 5th at World Finals.

Continuing that musical passion during and after college, he ran a Music program at Camp Crosley YMCA for five years managing a full studio and teaching kids the skills they need to be able to create music with others. Around this time he also taught multiple local high school drum lines as well as private guitar and percussion lessons. He also worked on the production end of multiple live music venues in Indiana and Michigan running lights and sound for National acts including The Wailers, Fareed Haques Flat Earth, Outlaw Nation, and many more, giving rise to his passion for production and his production company Cedar Sound.

After returning from a year of Backpacking Australia In his late 20s, he began taking a more serious approach to songwriting and picked up the mandolin as his passion for Bluegrass grew. Over the years (and with the help of some great musical mentors) he has honed his sound into what can only be described as GrooveGrass, combining bluegrass, outlaw country, and funk/fusion for a high energy and unique show every time. Being based in Michigan he’s sat in and toured with some of the best including The Smokin Dobroleles, Cosmic Knot, The Swamp Rats (Florida tour winter 2026), Loffie, and more. He now has also joined Railcar Graffiti on Guitar and Loffie playing mandolin.

With a continued passion for both education and performance, Nothing seems to be slowing down. Plans are in motion for his debut album by Cedar Sap as well as teaching homeschool music programs and private lessons on top of a fulfilling busy tour schedule.
